Product Description |
Sony's compact digital book, the Reader Pocket Edition features a 5 inch, paper-like display that delivers an easy-on-the-eyes reading experience. In addition to the natural reading surface, the Reader also has adjustable font sizes, quick page turning, and a high contrast ratio, which makes reading possible even in direct sunlight. Side-button navigation also ensures seamless reading with right and left-hand side page advance buttons.
Leave the dusty library at home; with 512MB of onboard memory there's enough space to store up to 350 books on your Reader at once. Sony also gave this digital book compatibility with both PC and Mac. Both systems support the easy to use eBook Library 3.0 software for managing your book collection. Supported formats include the industry standards, ePub and PDF.
On a full charge the Pocket Edition will last for up to two weeks of reading (or 7,500 continuous page turns). Charging, and transfer of eBooks, is done through your computer's USB port with the included USB cable. |

I bought this item for my daughter...She loves it and uses it almost every day. The battery life is true to it's statement last days without a charge.
The only downfall I would say is it did not come with a light---so she can read in dark settings. |

I LOVE this Sony eBook reader! Of course it's my first eBook reader so I can't compare with others such as Amazon's Kindle (the "1984" Orwellian debacle scared me away from purchasing a kindle - taking back a purchased book without my knowledge - a great big scary NO-NO. It's still a digital version of a house break-in).
It's small enough to fit in my palm, but it holds over 900 books. Sony advertises that it holds 350 books, but I guess they mean books that are over 1000 pages.. my books range from about 18 pages all the way up to 1200 pages (average is 200-250 pages).
I just wish these had come out years ago - I'd have saved a lot of space from all the books I bought over the years. |

This is my first eReader and it is the best purchase I have ever made. Not only will my bookshelves be relieved not to have anymore added weight but I am able to download books for FREE from the NY public library. That is absolutely fantastic if you ask me!
The size is just enough to hold in my hand without fumbling or having difficulty holding it. The case that comes with it, allows me to keep the nosey people on the bus from reading over my shoulder. it's light weight and holds a charge for sooo long. I really am enjoying this product and am thrilled that I decided to spend the money on it. |
